I wanted to write about this topic because in addition to being exciting, it is necessary to know the importance of how reducing stress levels benefits our physical and emotional health in many aspects, resulting in a better quality of life in different areas. However, although it seems that it is something that we hear daily and that we know how to deal with it, the vast majority of people have normalized feeling stressed as a lifestyle, as a routine from Monday to Sunday.
WHAT IS STRESS?
I wanted to write about this topic because in addition to being exciting, it is necessary to know the importance of how reducing stress levels benefits our physical and emotional health in many aspects, resulting in a better quality of life in different areas. However, although it seems that it is something that we hear daily and that we know how to deal with it, the vast majority of people have normalized feeling stressed as a lifestyle, as a routine from Monday to Sunday.
Perhaps you have experienced it as I have, when we are overthinking a situation or we are experiencing a situation that for a moment gets out of hand, how our body reacts immediately to that external stimulus. Stress can help us protect ourselves, defend ourselves or run away, however, continuing to prolong that stress instead of benefiting you, generates discomfort. You may begin to experience a lot of tension, stiffness, feelings of discomfort, headache, poor concentration, among other discomforts, including illnesses.
Simply put, the human response to stress is activated by a single thought and lasts longer than it should. Is it because most of the things that happen to us are negative? Of course not! People get to have such a negative attitude because they live anticipating stress or re-experiencing it with memories, that’s why most of their thoughts and feelings are motivated by strong stress and survival hormones.
Since I gave you a brief introduction of how you are generating stress in your life and what has been harming you in the different areas of your life. Now we can move on to taking different actions and decisions, to start taking charge of
our thoughts more consciously.
HOW CAN I REDUCE STRESS LEVELS IN MY LIFE?
As Dr. Joe Dispenza says, as our emotions become higher, our consciousness levels up, closer to Source, and we feel more connected to universal intelligence.
You can’t always avoid stress in your life, but you can learn to manage it better. The National Institutes of Health recommend these measures:
Prioritize: Decide what needs to be done and what can wait and learn to say no to new tasks if you are overwhelmed. Stay in touch with people who can provide emotional and other support: Ask friends, family, and community or faith-based organizations for help in reducing stress due to work responsibilities or family issues, such as caring for a loved one.
Take time to do relaxing activities that you enjoy: like reading, yoga, or gardening.
Avoid obsessively thinking about problems: Focus on what you have accomplished, not what you haven’t been able to do. Get regular exercise: A moderate walk of just 30 minutes a day can help lift your spirits and reduce stress.
THE BENEFITS OF MANAGING STRESS
When we begin to take responsibility for what enters our minds (what we think, hear, see and feel) and we stop repeatedly thinking about some situation that has happened to us in a recent way or that has been around for a long time, we avoid generating emotions that they cause discomfort.
That is why investing in your personal growth, in improving 1% every day, generates that you obtain better results, that you attract into your life what you want so much.
