What I Help With
As a Black woman in the field of counseling, I am deeply committed to creating a therapeutic space that acknowledges and honors the unique challenges faced by individuals navigating systemic oppression and racial inequities.
I recognize the profound impact that these struggles can have on mental health, identity, and overall well-being. My goal is to provide an affirming and supportive environment where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered to process their experiences without judgment.
My 3 Core Specialties
1. Children & Adolescent Therapy (Ages 5+)
Working with young children, elementary-age kids, and teens on anxiety, behavioral issues, self-esteem, and family dynamics. I use age-appropriate approaches that engage children where they are.
2. PTSD & Trauma
Supporting individuals who've experienced traumatic events, including childhood trauma, violence, and racial trauma. Trauma affects everyone differently, and healing is possible.
3. Anxiety & Stress Management
Helping clients manage anxiety, worry, panic, and chronic stress using evidence-based tools (CBT/DBT-informed). We’ll work on noticing thought–emotion–behavior patterns, building coping skills, and creating practical strategies you can use in daily life.
I also help with...
- Anxiety & Stress Management: Building coping skills and confidence
- Self-Esteem & Confidence: Rewriting negative self-narratives
- Family Dynamics: Improving communication between parents and children
- Life Transitions: Supporting children and families through change
My Approach to Therapy
I use narrative therapy to help clients—both children and adults—rewrite the stories they tell themselves. Often we internalize negative messages from our experiences, our families, or society. Therapy is about challenging those narratives and discovering your own truth.
"You are not defined by what happened to you. You get to write your own story."
I create a warm, non-judgmental space where children feel comfortable expressing themselves and adults feel seen and understood. My work is culturally responsive and trauma-informed.
Therapy Approaches I Use
- Narrative Therapy: Rewriting the stories that shape your identity
- Trauma-Informed Care: Understanding how trauma affects thoughts, feelings, and behaviors
- Play Therapy: For younger children, using play as a natural form of expression
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Identifying and changing unhelpful patterns
- Family Systems Therapy: Understanding how family dynamics contribute to individual struggles
Professional Background & Education
I hold a Master's degree in Counseling and have specialized training in working with children, adolescents, and families. My clinical experience includes work with diverse populations and a focus on culturally responsive care.
I'm particularly passionate about addressing how racial trauma and systemic oppression contribute to mental health challenges. These experiences deserve to be named, validated, and processed in therapy.
